Entry Rules for Yemen Citizens
Yemen citizens need a visa to enter Ukraine. For most short trips (tourism, business, private visits, cultural or sports events), you must apply for a short-stay Type C visa. This visa normally allows a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
Apply in advance: visa applications are accepted no earlier than 3 months before your planned travel date. Ukraine does not issue short-stay visas on arrival.
COVID-19: Ukraine has no COVID-related entry restrictions in 2026.
Required Documents
Prepare a complete file for the Ukrainian consular office handling your application. Typical requirements for a Type C visa include:
- International passport valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure from Ukraine
- Visa application form (completed as required by the consulate)
- One recent photo (usually 35×45 mm)
- Travel medical insurance with coverage of at least €30,000, valid in Ukraine
- Proof of sufficient funds (bank statements, income proof, or a sponsor letter with supporting documents)
- Proof of travel purpose (one of the following): hotel booking/tourist voucher, invitation from a Ukrainian citizen/company, event invitation, medical documents for treatment, or onward tickets for transit
- Visa fee payment receipt
Financial means for entry: border officers may ask you to confirm you can support yourself during the trip. The minimum is calculated under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 884 using the 2026 subsistence minimum (3,209 UAH): FO = ((20 × Pm) ÷ 30) × (Kd + 5), where Kd is the number of days in Ukraine.
If your visa is refused: you can appeal or reapply. Reapplying works best when you correct the exact reason for refusal (missing documents, weak purpose-of-trip proof, insufficient funds, insurance issues, or inconsistencies).
Travel Insurance
Travel medical insurance is mandatory for a Ukraine visa and is strongly recommended for travel during martial law. Choose a policy that clearly covers:
- Emergency outpatient and inpatient treatment
- Emergency transportation and hospitalization
- Repatriation (medical evacuation/return in case of serious illness or accident)
- Coverage that includes war-related risks if you plan to travel in areas where such risks may apply
You can arrange compliant coverage online; many travelers use insurance-ukraine.com for policies designed for foreign visitors.
Safety
Ukraine remains under martial law in 2026, and the security situation can change quickly by region. Practical steps for Yemen citizens traveling in Ukraine:
- Monitor air-raid alerts and follow local instructions immediately.
- Plan routes and accommodation with access to shelters (ask your hotel where the nearest shelter is).
- Carry originals and copies of your passport, visa, insurance, and accommodation details.
- Expect checkpoints between regions and within cities; keep documents ready and follow instructions calmly.
- Do not film or photograph military personnel, checkpoints, air defense, or military equipment.
Emergency number: dial 112 for all emergency services (operators can route to police, ambulance, fire, gas emergency).
Customs
Green corridor (no written declaration, if within limits):
- Personal belongings
- Goods up to €500 total value and up to 50 kg
- Food for personal use up to €200
- Cash up to €10,000 (or equivalent). If you carry more, be ready to show bank documents confirming withdrawal from your account.
- Medicines (non-narcotic/non-psychotropic): generally up to 5 packages of each medicine per person
Red corridor (written declaration required): goods requiring permits, currency/cultural values, securities, medicines containing narcotic/psychotropic substances or precursors, and goods exceeding €500 or 50 kg.
Prohibited imports: narcotic/psychotropic drugs, explosives, toxic substances, certain food products without certification, materials promoting violence/racism/war or pornography, unidentified animals, wanted cultural property, and weapons (including gas sprays) without required permits.
Pets (cats/dogs): your pet must have an ISO 11784/11785 microchip, a valid rabies vaccination after microchipping, and an official veterinary health certificate issued shortly before travel (commonly within 10 days). Confirm the exact certificate format with your departure-country veterinary authority and your carrier before flying.
Driving
Ukraine has right-hand traffic. Common speed limits:
- Residential/pedestrian zones: 20 km/h
- In cities: 50 km/h
- Outside cities: 90 km/h
- Divided roads outside cities: 110 km/h
- Motorways: 130 km/h
Documents: carry your driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance. Seat belts are mandatory for the driver and front passenger.
Foreign-plated cars: foreign nationals may use a foreign-registered car in Ukraine for up to 1 year for personal use. If you stay longer than 2 months, you must arrange temporary registration through a Ministry of Internal Affairs service center. After one year, the vehicle must leave Ukraine.
Child safety: children under 12 must use appropriate child restraints; children cannot ride in the front seat without a child seat; children over 12 must wear seat belts.
Checkpoints by car: slow down, prepare documents, follow instructions, and allow inspection if requested. Turn off and remove dashcams/phones from visible recording positions when approaching a checkpoint.
