Key facts
Entry Rules for Peru Citizens
Peru citizens can enter Ukraine visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, private visits, business meetings, and other short stays that do not require a work permit.
You must enter with a valid Peruvian international passport. A national ID card is not accepted for border crossing. Border officers may ask questions about your itinerary and may request supporting documents (see below). If you previously violated Ukrainian immigration rules or have an entry ban, you can be refused entry.
COVID-19: Ukraine has no COVID-related entry restrictions in 2026.
Required Documents
Prepare a document set that you can show at the border (paper or digital copies are useful, but originals are best for key items):
- Passport (recommended: valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure).
- Travel medical insurance valid for Ukraine (mandatory).
- Proof of purpose of travel (one or more): hotel booking, rental agreement, invitation letter from a host (friend/relative/company), tourist voucher, medical appointment documents, or onward tickets if transiting.
- Proof of sufficient funds for the whole stay (cash, bank cards + balance, bank statement, paid accommodation, or a host’s guarantee letter).
How much money may be required? Border control can check financial means using an official formula: FO = ((20 × Pm) ÷ 30) × (Kd + 5), where Pm is the 2026 subsistence minimum (3,209 UAH) and Kd is the number of days in Ukraine. Example: for 30 days, the minimum is about 24,344 UAH.
Travel Insurance
Medical insurance is required for foreigners entering Ukraine in 2026, including Peru citizens. Choose a policy that covers:
- Outpatient and inpatient treatment
- Emergency care
- Repatriation
- Coverage for risks linked to military actions (where available in policy terms)
Buy insurance before departure so you can show the policy at the border. Many travelers arrange coverage online via insurance-ukraine.com.
Safety
Ukraine remains under martial law in 2026, and security conditions can change by region. Practical steps that help travelers:
- Check the local curfew rules for the city/region you will visit and plan evening transport accordingly.
- Install the “Air Alarm” app for real-time air-raid alerts and follow instructions from local authorities.
- Carry your passport (or a secure copy) and keep your embassy contact details accessible.
Kyiv and other major cities can be visited, but travelers should stay informed daily, avoid restricted areas, and follow instructions at checkpoints.
Customs
Green corridor (no written declaration) is generally used for personal items and goods within limits. Common allowances include:
- Personal belongings
- Goods up to EUR 500 total value and up to 50 kg
- Food for personal use (not for sale) up to EUR 200
- Cash up to EUR 10,000 (or equivalent). If more, you must declare it and may need bank documents proving withdrawal.
- Medicines (non-narcotic/non-psychotropic): typically up to 5 packages per medicine per person
Red corridor (written declaration required) is used for goods that exceed limits, require permits, include cultural values, certain medicines, securities, or large amounts of currency.
Prohibited imports include narcotic/psychotropic substances, explosives and poisons, certain food products without required certification, illegal propaganda materials, unidentified animals, wanted cultural property, and weapons without permits.
Export rules: You can export goods under EUR 10,000 without a written declaration in many cases. Items restricted by law (including cultural and historical values) may require permits and declaration. Certain foods and medicines are restricted for export; if you carry prescription medicines, keep the prescription and original packaging.
Driving
Traffic in Ukraine is right-hand. If you drive, carry your driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance documents. Seat belts are mandatory for the driver and front passenger.

Foreign-plated vehicles: Foreign nationals may bring a car with foreign plates for personal use. You can generally drive it in Ukraine for up to 1 year. If you plan to stay more than 2 months, you must contact a Ministry of Internal Affairs service center for temporary registration. After one year, the vehicle must leave Ukraine.
Speed limits:
- Residential/pedestrian zones: 20 km/h
- In cities: 50 km/h
- Outside cities: 90 km/h
- Divided highways outside cities: 110 km/h
